walk : not yet

talk more : he's babbling more
look around : yes

Reasons that we think baby Emmett might cry:
he's hungry
he doesn't want a bath baby Emmett likes the bath
he's sad
he's sick
he's hurt
he's thirsty
he's tired
he does not want to go to bed

Baby Emmett's mom knows when he's:
tired  because he rubs his eyes when he cries

Shared writing

We have been learning about fiction and non-fiction. We wrote a non fiction text about pumpkins.
- #17 and Mme

We know a lot about pumpkins and we are excited to share it with you.
- #9 and Mme

Please listen to me read this text to you:

Pumpkins

Pumpkins are orange. Some are round and others are oval. Pumpkins can be big or small. Some pumpkins are shiny and some are not. They can have big stems. Pumpkins can go rotten. You can paint them, carve them or decorate them.

Pumpkins can be baked. They can be used for pies, muffins, cookies and soup. Pumpkins are all different sizes. Baby pumpkins are green and older pumpkins are orange.

Baby Emmett's first visit

Today we confirmed our predictions with Baby Emmett's mom.
We learned what he is doing already and what he isn't yet doing.
Here is what we learned today:
  • eat (mashed up bananas) : not yet
  • crawl : not yet
  • walk : not yet
  • smile
  • ride a bike (baby bike) : not yet
  • grab a ball
  • sleep
  • cry
  • fight (boxing) : not yet
  • drink from a bottle
  • lay down
  • say words ("ba ba")
  • laugh (little giggles)
  • roll : not yet
  • swim : not yet
Milestones Emmett has already met:
  • he sucks his thumb
  • he lifts his head
  • he makes fists
  • he tries to talk, goos and gaas
  • he's making movements to start crawling
  • he likes to stand with mom's help (he's strengthening his legs)
  • he likes to kick
Today we measured and weighed Baby Emmett at 4 months old.
He measures : 23 inches
He weighs: 11 pounds

When he was born he measured 20.5 inches and weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces.

We used our math skills to figure out Emmett's weight, first his mom stood on the scale and then she held him. We counted by 5's to count up and confirmed our estimate together.
